Krill Nat Bionops is a dietary supplement based on highly purified and concentrated patented krill oil. It comes in small, easy-to-swallow capsules.
The shrimp-like crustaceans of the Euphausiacea family are commonly known as "krill" and comprise 86 species.
Euphausia superba (E. superba), also known as "Antarctic krill", is the dominant krill species in the oceans surrounding Antarctica. Antarctic krill is a key species in the Antarctic marine ecosystem. It is considered the base of the food chain, feeding on phytoplankton and serving as food for other marine animals.
Krill oil is rich in phospholipids (>55% of total lipids), most of which are phosphatidylcholines (>85%).
It has a high content of long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), particularly EPA and DHA.
Krill oil is also a source of astaxanthin. This combination of important nutrients extracted from Antarctic krill is the basis of krill oil's unique character.

The Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), an international treaty, regulates the sustainable harvest of krill. In zone 48 of the Southern Ocean, which is the only zone where krill fishing can operate, the krill industry is allowed to catch 1% of the estimated 60 million tonnes of krill. On average, the entire fishery currently exploits 1/3 of the 1% krill biomass in zone 48. To further protect the environment, fishing is carried out at a distance from the coast during the breeding season of marine mammals.
